Linktree vs. Beacons: choose by the work you need to do
Compare Linktree and Beacons around link management, selling, audience tools, plan limits, and the systems you already use.
The useful takeaway
Choose the platform that fits your actual workflow and required plan, not the longest feature list.
BrandPage publishes this comparison and competes in this category. Recommendations are editorial judgments based on the linked product documentation, not hands-on test scores or paid placements. How we compare tools.
Linktree and Beacons both offer more than a simple list of links. The useful comparison is which product and plan fits the work you actually intend to do. These recommendations are documentation-based editorial judgments, not hands-on performance tests. Official product pages were checked on October 19, 2026; confirm current terms and eligibility before committing, because features and plan boundaries can change.
Start with the workflow you already have
List the tasks your social destination must support: route visitors to existing pages, collect inquiries, sell digital products, manage an audience, or support brand partnerships. Then mark which tasks already work in another system. Replacing a functioning store or newsletter solely because a link tool also offers one can create migration work without solving a real problem.
For a hypothetical photographer with a working booking system and store, the priority may be clear routing and easy maintenance. A creator starting a digital-product business may place more weight on integrated selling and audience tools. These are different buying decisions even if both people describe their need as a link in bio. Write the workflow before evaluating the brands so promotional feature lists do not define your requirements for you.
Understand the documented product emphasis
Linktree's plan documentation describes link scheduling, customization, analytics, audience integrations, selling, and higher-tier administration features, with availability varying by plan. This makes it a candidate for people who want to start with a link hub and evaluate additional capabilities as their requirements become specific. That is an editorial interpretation of the documented structure, not a claim that every feature is suitable for every business.
Beacons' pricing page presents a customizable link page alongside a media kit, digital-product selling, email tools, and creator-oriented capabilities. Its plan table also distinguishes domain options, email allowances, and seller-fee treatment. It is therefore worth evaluating when several of those activities belong in the same workflow. The existence of a feature does not establish its usability, deliverability, reporting quality, or suitability for your particular audience.
Compare the features that change the buying decision
The table summarizes selected differences current as of October 19, 2026, using Linktree’s paid-plan documentation and Beacons’ plan comparison. Read it by the task you need to perform. A built-in email allowance and an integration with an existing email service are different capabilities; neither is automatically better. Likewise, a report updating in real time does not tell you how much historical data remains available.
The Beacons percentages below are seller fees, not a complete payment-cost calculation. Its store-fee explanation separates Beacons fees from payment-processor fees. A zero seller-fee tier therefore does not mean a transaction has no processing cost. Check the processor, payment method, eligibility, subscription, and applicable terms before comparing the amount you would retain. We have not supplied a Linktree fee percentage because this feature reference does not establish one.
| Decision | Linktree | Beacons |
|---|---|---|
| Sell digital downloads | Priced digital products are listed for Pro and Premium; selling has country and eligibility restrictions. | Free includes unlimited digital products with 9% seller fees. Creator Plus lists 0% seller fees. |
| Manage email | Pro and Premium list form-response integrations with Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Kit, and Google Sheets. | Monthly email sends: Free 50; Creator 500; Creator Plus unlimited. |
| Review page activity | Insights history: Free 28 days; Starter 90 days; Pro 365 days; Premium lifetime. | Free lists real-time analytics. That label does not establish an equivalent history window. |
| Control brand presentation | Every paid plan removes ads. Pro and Premium also allow removal of the Linktree logo. | Creator lists custom-domain Link in Bio and Store product URLs. Domain support is distinct from logo or ad removal. |
Apply the differences to two concrete buying scenarios
Scenario one: a hypothetical photographer already uses a booking service and Mailchimp, and needs to retire a seasonal offer automatically. The next decision is about maintaining that existing workflow. Linktree’s documentation puts link scheduling on every paid plan, while its Mailchimp form-response integration requires Pro or Premium. If the photographer only links to an existing Mailchimp signup page, that is a different requirement from syncing a form hosted on the link page. Write down which journey is actually needed before treating the integration tier as essential.
For that photographer, the first comparison is the cost and maintenance of routing visitors into existing systems versus moving those tasks elsewhere. Beacons’ built-in email sends would have little immediate value if Mailchimp remains the chosen sending system. That does not disqualify Beacons; it means email volume should not decide this purchase. Preserve the current customer path in the draft and examine the features needed to manage it, including the deadline behavior of the seasonal offer.
Scenario two: a hypothetical illustrator has a first downloadable worksheet and no existing store or email service. Beacons Free provides a documented starting point for selling it and sending a small amount of email, so it deserves a direct trial against the complete setup the illustrator would otherwise assemble. The plan table also identifies two distinct upgrade questions: whether the email allowance supports the intended sending schedule and whether the seller-fee savings justify a subscription. A larger mailing list and more sales need not arrive at the same time.
For this illustrator, assess payment, file delivery, and the follow-up message as one customer journey. Do not choose a larger tier using a revenue forecast alone, and do not assume a product catalog proves that delivery and support fit the business. Linktree remains a candidate where its eligible selling tools and the creator’s existing presence make sense. These are illustrative decisions, not observed customer results. Make the decision conditional and reversible
Put Linktree on your shortlist when its documented link management and relevant integrations match the systems you want to keep. Put Beacons on your shortlist when its combined creator workflows could replace real work you otherwise need to assemble. Evaluate both more closely if selling and audience tools are central, because plan details and operational fit matter more than category labels.
Choose the option that satisfies the current brief with acceptable maintenance and cost, then record what would justify upgrading or switching. Avoid migrating everything on the first day if a small public page can establish fit. Neither provider can guarantee that people will discover the business, trust the offer, or complete a purchase. The page still needs useful content, accurate destinations, and a service experience that fulfills its promises.
